Earthly Gourmet, a specialty food distribution company focused exclusively on vegan and gluten-free foods, has acquired Tofuna Fysh, an ‘ocean-inspired plant-based’ food brand, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition comes 30 months after initial launch of Tofuna Fysh which funded a vegan ‘tuna’ salad via Kickstarter before subsequently releasing vegan Fysh Sauce®  – both of which proved popular. Fysh Sauce® is now available in over 50 stores across the country, primarily in the Pacific Northwest. Earthly Gourmet has been the exclusive distributor of Fysh Sauce® since January ‘17, servicing restaurants, co-ops, and independent grocery stores throughout Oregon and Washington’s I-5 corridor including Portland, Seattle, Eugene, Corvallis, and Bend.

“It made sense for us to acquire Tofuna Fysh. The brand is strong with an already proven concept that’s been executed on multiple products and shows great potential. Portland has long been considered a vegan mecca. Over the past 10 years the number of restaurants, food carts, and vegan food options has grown exponentially throughout the entire Pacific Northwest with nationwide attention. Earthly Gourmet has been instrumental in sustaining demand for vegan and gluten-free options, anchoring Portland as PETA’s #1 vegan city. Food entrepreneurship is also prevalent in Portland with special support from Oregon State University’s Food Innovation Center. Zach Grossman, the founder of Tofuna Fysh, has this to say:

The Tofuna Fysh acquisition is the most recent in a growing list of vegan brands joining larger organizations; e.g. Daiya, Gardein, Sweet Earth, Better Bean, etc. With the plant-based food industry continuing to gain market share and value, an anticipated $5 Billion/year by 2020, consumer demand is at an all-time high.
